I have an appearance this weekend at Wizard World Anaheim. It’ll be good times with all my small press buddies!

We’ll be selling stuff for Goodbye Blue Monday and Pins N Needles, so you should come by and say helloooo. It is important to me that you emphasize the oooo on that.

We’re at table 1065 with our good buddy Zen. He will have comics about hot broads in pink. I know you much you people love that shit.

You better come or ELSE OR ELSE

I’d also like to announce that, while Zuda is deliberating over the fate of my dear Mourning Electric, I’ve decided to embark on a new minicomic sidestory. How exciting is that huh? A sidestory for a comic you’ve never read! Woooo. Check back next week for an update!

And lastly, if you’re a Fringe fan, go check out my Fringe comics on Twitter. They are an excellent waste of 5 minutes.

The last two nights have been long and productive, but low on web-friendly content. Unless you really want to read a bunch of scribble-scratch and some really loose story outlines that make no sense.

So I’m going to share with you a couple of things I have found enjoyment in today. Because that’s the kind of friend I am. I am the friend that placates you with entertainment to distract you from the fact that I have nothing to give you for Christmas.

COMICS:
Teetering Bulb, a couple of comic-makin dudes named Kurt Huggins and Zelda Devon, have put up a really gorgeous and potentially hilarious new comic over at Tor called King of an Endless Sky. It’s about some kid and a robot and gerbils. I’m pretty sure that was the pitch they used to sell it. You can read the first 4 pages RIGHT HERE.

Masterful use of watercolors and critters. via Lines and Colors

MUSIC:
RCRD LBL is always providing me more stuff than I could ever possibly download, it’s truly an obscene amount of new music.

Today’s excellent find comes in the form of French Miami, a post-punk outfit out of San Fran. Their sound is washed out and hard to fathom, but utterly steeped in the tenets of ROCK. They’ve got a show coming up in NY but I’m not going to link it cause I don’t get to go. Ha.

I’ve been doing some sketching for a comic idea over the last few days. It’s a teen angst sci-fi mystery. Because the more genres you’ve got, the better right? I was not drunk when I wrote the last two sentences.

Here’s a little amalgamation of my favorite bits and pieces that came out. I was afraid I’d lost my line a few weeks ago, but I think it’s coming back full force. Now it’s just a matter of knocking out a script I can be happy with (besides Battlerock or El Segundo) and getting down n dirty on some bristol board. It will happen sooner than we all think.

And before I go pass out, let me plug the Supertron livestream and the Azure livestream. Both absolutely full of pants-shittingly delightful people, and Peter Timony.

Good night you horrible monsters.

If you live in LA, I’m going to tell you what to do this weekend and you are going to do it. Or else. OR. ELSE.

FRIDAY NIGHT:
Spaceland has got a show of some psychadelica rock and rollica. The Warlocks, The Morning After Girls, and Gliss will be rocking your acid loving face off. I honestly don’t even know who Gliss is, but the other two are sure to be a smooth texture of washy guitars and hairy dudes rocking out. via LA Weekly

SATURDAY NIGHT:
Gallery Nucleus is hosting a Hi Fructose sponsored by celebration of Japanese Street fashion and the artists who probably dress up in it on their offtime. Junko Mizuno and Kozyndan will both be there, along with a ridiculous amount of other spongy sentient masses who make beautiful art. via chumpchampion

Surfing the Missed Connections on Craigslist is an always-bizarre and oft-depressing journey into love and loss. It’s usually pretty good for researching the raw emotions behind those as well. Or just having a chuckle at the utter hopelessness of expecting a response from “i saw you at a coffee bean you were wearing a red shirt, ur so hawt lets hook up”. It’s certainly not the sort of place you’d expect anyone to post something they’d consider meaningful.

But today I stumbled onto an odd new trend, Craigslist poetry…

he came to me in dreams,
which I did see.

In his eyes, a demon there.
A lust for knowledge
I would not share.

Flee, I did, across the stars
to others whom heaven
finds, not bars.

That they would fight for me,
in starry realms above the sea.

But, still the battle rages you see.
His harem follows him and me.
He wants them all at bended knee.

I must be joined with only one,
that is my fate,
to stand at the heavenly gate.

Creation groans for earth anew,
and I do too,
and I do too.

wisely I ask of thee.
Of the fates,
there are but three.

Ours but one,
and two doth follow
us both into
that dark hollow.

My path is guided
by the Holy Light
an ever fixed mark
that steers me by night.

Your sirens do sing and
your loyalty wavers.
In your eyes I see no favor.

As you hear others
across the sea,
there is another who
keeps calling to me.

In him, virtue I see,
which is a language
that speaks to me.

The paths of fate are hung
on a date in October when
the bell will be rung.

If our paths are not well met,
the compass in my heart
will be eternally set.

He waits for me,
to see what will be.
His eyes like yours,
but longing to be free.

Here is a secret,
which I have found out.
When I travel with him,
he can shut ye out.

This be the purpose
of such pairs,
who wish to climb
the heavenly stairs.

Fare thee well, I know you’re leavin’
For the new love that you’ve found
The handsome guy that you’ve been dating, whoaaaaaa
I got a feelin’ he’s gonna put you down…..’cause

He uses all the great quotations
Says the things I wish I could say
Whoa, but he’s had so many rehearsals
Girl, to him it’s just another play……but wait.

When the final act is over
And you’re left standing all alone
When he takes his bow and makes his exit
Girl, I’ll be there to take you home Whoa whoa whoa whoooooaaaa

He don’t love you (and he never will) like I love you
If he did, he wouldn’t break your heart
oh, he don’t love you, girl, like I love you
He’s trying to tear us apart.
